Welcome to photoevent!

Imagine a weekend with 250 photographers gathered at a beautiful place. The entire weekend is a social event where you meet new friends and colleges that share your passion for photography. And the best part is that they are all there to share their knowledge with you, and are eager to listen to you to learn even more.

That’s the vision of photoevent, the first unConference for photographers in Sweden.

An unConference is a conference that isn’t like traditional conferences. It’s totally participant driven, you can look at it as a potluck. Everyone brings something to the conference and together we all create unexpected magic.

In Swedish we even use the term “potluck conference”.

We spend almost 48 hours together and it’s a mix of traditional presentations by other participants and relaxing in the sauna with a beer watching the sun set with new friends.

There is time to try out new ideas in the open studio, or take a walk in the surroundings. There is also time to party like it’s no tomorrow, followed by a photo-shoot in the sunrise!

How does the conference part work?

As soon as you register to attend photoevent you get access to a group on Facebook where you’ll find all the others coming.

There you can present yourself and what you like to speak about. Write a short presentation of your topic and the process is started.

When you arrive to photoevent there will be a grid containing all the available venues and timeslots. Put a piece of paper with your presentation at a free spot that fits you. When it’s your time you walk over to the venue and prepare 5-10 minutes before the set time.

Then you have 40 minutes for your topic! Remember, there is no need to be nervous, everyone in the room has chosen your session because they found your session to be the most interesting.

After your 40 minutes you’ll have 5-10 minutes for Q&A or discussions. Then the next person will enter the room and start preparing. Remember to keep your time; people need to have time to get to the next session.

Does everyone speak English at photoevent?

No, even if the name of the conference is in English, the conference itself will mainly be held in Swedish.

But I believe that an English speaking person absolutely can have a good experience attending the conference.

I want more information!

Don’t be afraid to contact us if you want more information about the conference in English. It doesn’t matter if you are thinking about attending or if you just like the concept and want to talk about arranging something similar where you live!
